"Yeah, well how much worse can it get?" Cheryl asked. "Both of his parents are dead... his brother is dead... and his girlfriend has broken up with him. He's already at rock bottom... there's really nowhere for him to go but up."
“Well knowing him he’d find some way to hit lower.” Cassandra said sighing. “I don’t know…maybe he needs help we can’t give here.”
"Or... here's another thought," Cheryl responded. "Perhaps we could tell him that, if he has no ambitions for
himself, then he should consider working to make a better life for
someone else? It'd be so much better than just lying in here, where he's helping neither
himself nor
others ..."
“I don’t think he’d go for that…honestly maybe we should wipe his memories.” Cassandra said.
"Okay..." Cheryl agreed. "But, even then, we'll need to work hard to get him to experience things, so he can make some
new memories. If we just keep him here, he really will be gone... he won't even be Kyle any more: just some non-person with no sense of who he is
."
Cassandra sighed and nodded. “Yes, I suppose so…”
"And that probably means he'll need new friends," Cheryl added. "But he's not likely to find any here... I'd be willing to stay with him, but I'm an adventurer who travels from place to place. So, perhaps we could have him accompany me on my adventures, until he finds somewhere he likes the look of?"
Cassandra nodded. “I guess that could work.” She agreed.
"Okay
," Cheryl agreed. "I was thinking of going to Glitogallia next... do you think he might like to see the unicorns?"
“Probably.” Cassandra said nodding.
