"Okay..." Lydia responded, with a sigh. "Well, let me know if you do think of any ways I can help. Even if it's just something small, like cooking you something to eat on the way. But anyway... shall we go back to my room?"
Kyle blushed and nodded. "Um sure...if you want." he said taking hold of Lydia's hand.
Lydia nervously took Kyle's hand, and led him back to her bedroom. The two of them spent the rest of the evening there, until it was time for Kyle to return to his bed in his own room, across the corridor from her.
About a week later, Nestor hammered on the door, accompanied by three fully-uniformed guards. "Kyle, are you ready for your mission?"
Kyle groaned as he had been nicely resting in his bed. He grumbled getting up and going to the door rubbing his eyes. “I guess…”
"Okay," Nestor smiled. "Come with us
!"
Nestor led Kyle to his war room - where Conor was waiting with two more guards. "Good morning, guys
!" he greeted the new arrivals. "So, that makes eight of us?"
"Seven, actually," Nestor clarified. "I won't be going with you. But I'll be going in the carriages to take you there."
"Sounds good
," Conor agreed, nodding his head. "So... where do you want to drop us off?"
Kyle was still half awake, so he wasn't paying too much attention. "Um...what?"
"We're wondering where Duke Nestor should drop us off," Conor repeated. "As in, where do you want to start digging your tunnel?"
He then pulled out his map, so that Kyle could point out a location. "It should probably be somewhere not too far from the castle, but where they're not going to spot us."
“Um…” Kyle looked at the map before pointing to an area not too far from the castle.
"Yes, that looks good
," Nestor agreed. "Not too far off the beaten path, but there's a decent amount of tree cover, so they might not see us."
One of the other guards was starting to grow impatient. "So, shall we set off?"
Kyle sighed slowly nodded. “I guess so…”
