"Okay
," Meriandra agreed. "I'll be back here in a week, to see if you've made any progress. Let me know then how you're getting along
,"
After saying a quick goodbye to Kyle, Meriandra left, and returned to her work in the infirmary.
Kyle sighed rolling back on his side. He thought about getting up and trying...but decided he'd try tomorrow...as he was feeling kind of tired.
A couple of days later, Lydia was feeling restless. She knew Kyle still had five days to go until she would give up on him, and start looking for someone else - but she was curious to see how he was doing.
With some trepidation, she went down to his bedroom, and knocked on his door...
Not long after she knocked there was a loud thud, followed by a curse, and a whimper, and then silence.
Lydia became increasingly concerned as she listened to this sequence of events playing out. She wasn't quite sure what to do at first - but in the end, she decided to knock on the door again.
"Can I help you?" she asked timidly.
There was a yelp as Kyle realized it was Lydia. "N...no!" Kyle cried quickly.
Lydia sighed. "Are you sure? It sounded like you fell over just then... don't you even want me to help you back onto your feet
?"
“N…no…” Kyle said in a whimper almost sounding uncertain. “What do you want?”
"I just wanted to see how you were getting on..." Lydia responded. "After all, you've only got five more days to walk up to my room - and I was curious to see how close you are to being able to do that..."
“You know I can’t….” Kyle said sounding on the verge of crying.
