"Yes, you can..." Lydia insisted. "But not if you just give up... you have to actually try, and persist with it. And if you can't do it alone, you need to be willing to accept help when it's offered to you..."
“I’ve been trying…” Kyle said. “I still can’t…”
"Well, you've still got five days," Lydia responded. "And you've got people who are willing to help you, if you'll let them. So don't give up hope yet... you've still got a good amount of time
."
“It won’t make a difference…” Kyle said with a sniffle.
Lydia sighed. "Well, I came here to try and help... but if you're going to be like this, then there's nothing I can do for you
. But you know the deal: you still have five days to walk up to my room, and if you can't do that, then I'll give up on you and start looking for somebody else. Good luck, and I hope to see you before then."
With that, Lydia left, and went upstairs.
Kyle let out a whimper before crying where he sat on the floor.
Three days passed - and nobody in the castle saw any sign of Kyle. The only people who went to his room were a couple of servants - who passed food through his door, and then immediately left.
However, with only two days to go before Lydia gave up, Meriandra decided to pay him another visit.
"So... how are you getting on with walking?" she asked through the door.
Kyle was in his bed sulking. “I still can’t…”
"Oh no
..." Meriandra responded, with a deep sigh. "Well... can you at least stand up on your own?"
Kyle sighed. “Not without support no…”
