"Not all of it was. He needs kindness. He wouldn't be such a nervous wreak if he hadn't had that abuse..." Cassandra said.
Kyle came out as well, again dressed in a nice blue dinner clothes that matched his eyes.
"Wow... that looks amazing
!" Lydia remarked. "Anyway, I'm getting hungry... so, let's go!"
Lydia then took hold of Kyle's left hand, and walked alongside him down the torch-lit corridors. On the way to the Great Hall, they received a few smiles, and even the odd gasp, from other party guests. Some of them thought their matching blue costumes looked rather smart, while others simply decided that Kyle and Lydia looked cute as a couple.
When they got there, they spotted Nestor sitting next to Cassandra at the top table... looking rather sorry for himself, with an avocado stuffed in his mouth.
"Hey look," Lydia snorted. "It looks like those two have been arguing again
!"
Kyle gulped looking at Nestor looking nervous.
Cassandra spotted Kyle and poked Nestor. "Be nice to him!"
Nestor shook his head in protest. "Mo - amb you cam'p fpick an avopabo in my mouf whem I'be alwebby gop am avopabo im my mouf
..."
Lydia simply burst into a hysterical fit of laughter - as did half of the guests in the hall. "Wow, that's embarrassing... just be glad you d-"
Suddenly, Lydia broke off mid-sentence. She was about to say "Just be glad you don't have Nestor as a dad"; however, she then remembered that Kyle no longer had a dad
at all - so, she wisely stopped before she could upset him.
"I mean, just be glad you don't have Cassandra as a wife..."
Kyle merely shook his head. "I guess..."
"Then be nice, or I'll get a bucket of avocados!" Cassandra hissed.
"Amb whap are you boimb po bo wiv vem
???" Nestor asked awkwardly. "Fpill bem over my heab?!?!"
Meriandra started giggling - but, once she gathered herself, she began waving to Kyle and Lydia. "Would you two like to come to the top table?" she asked from across the room. "Aliana and Rommel were supposed to be sitting here... and so were Andy and his 'partner'... so we have four empty seats now. Would you like to take two of them?"
Kyle bit his lip looking nervous as he eyed Nestor. Though...it did look like he wouldn't be too much of a problem. He sighed, and nodded. "Um...I guess, if Lydia wants to." he said finally.
"Kyle, don't worry about Nestor," Lydia urged. "I know he's a bit... frightening, but Cassandra's there. She'll keep him under control..."
As Lydia began walking towards the top table, she noticed that Meriandra was still sitting with Frederick; however, he wasn't looking too happy. He was arguing with one of the waitresses, about the orange juice that she had just poured into his cup.
"Frederick, I'm sorry, but you drank all of the apple juice..."
This made Kyle snort. He followed Lydia to the empty seats, and sat down still looking a bit nervous.
As Kyle and Lydia sat down, Frederick reluctantly accepted his orange juice, and the waitress moved on to Kyle and Lydia.
"So, what would you two like to drink?" the waitress asked, as she produced four pewter jugs - containing orange juice, grapefruit juice, sparkling water, and still water.
"I'll just have still water, please," Lydia requested. "If I take one of the nice drinks, then there won't be any left for anyone else - and it'll be my fault..."
