Throughout the rest of the day, Kyle sat and watched the blacksmith toiling away, hammering sheets of metal at his workbench. Chris barely stirred throughout the whole process, although he did squirm a bit whenever the blacksmith attached or removed one of his panels.
As promised, the job was done by the time the sun began to set. In this state, Chris had a thoroughly unsettling appearance: his exterior panels all around his neck (and considerable parts of his face) were missing. However, he was once again able to breathe normally - and that was the important thing.
