Meet the Staff

CJ

CJ

I'm Christopher, but I usually go by the name 'CJ' when I'm online. I was born in the United Kingdom, and I've lived there for my entire life, but one-quarter of my ancestry is Norwegian. Despite the presence of Viking blood flowing through my veins, I haven't had the urge to chop anybody up with an axe....yet :P .

I have a diverse range of interests, including model railways, Formula One (which I have been following since I was six years old, back in 1997), and strategy games. These strategy games have also significantly increased my appreciation of world history - though this is a rather more recent interest, so I'm certainly no history buff yet. Other than that, my likes include mathematics, quiz shows, and pretty much any kind of fudge, while my dislikes include sausages, hip-hop music, and above all, terrible puns. (No, that wasn't an invitation. Okay, maybe it was - I don't think I'm fooling anyone here :P .)

I first got into forums as an 11-year-old back in 2002. Back then, I was a total noob, but because those early forums no longer exist, I don't get to laugh at my old self now. I stuck with it, though, and towards the end of 2004, I was inspired to start my own forum, thinking that I might get a few members and several hundred posts if I was lucky. Little did I know that ten years, two forums and some 250,000 posts later, I would still be going. Along the way, I've learned plenty about the world, improved my graphics and skinning skills, met some fantastic people and made a lot of new friends. Today, I still love it just as much as I did when I first started out :D If you'd like to talk to me about anything, I'm right here. I don't bite (unlike some people...), and I'll be happy to help if I can :) .

Nilla

Nilla

I'm Nilla and my real name is Crystal. I live in Arkanas with my husband, but I was born and raised in Maine. I joined The Coffee house back in 2013 and have been here ever since. I've been on forums since I was 14, so you could say that I grew up on them. Before I was an admin, I was an Art Assistant, making graphics and making different themes for the board. I became the co-admin in 2016. Off of the forum, I enjoy gaming (I obsessively play The Elder Scrolls games), and when I am not doing that, I am spending my time drawing. I love cats and I am a big fan of Elton John.

Jarkko

Jarkko

My real name is D'Arcy, with the name "Jarkko" being a gaming handle I've used for just over a decade, due in part to my partial Finnish heritage and in part because the name just sounds cool. I'm not actually from Finland, rather from the west coast of Canada, living in Metro Vancouver since the beginning of 2011.

I'm among the oldest members of the forum staff, being born in 1983. I have a Master of Linguistics and Exegesis (2013) and a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics (2007), so suffice to say that linguistics and languages are my biggest passion in life. Besides my mother tongue English, I can fudge my way through conversations in French and German and am presently trying to learn Finnish.

I have a variety of interests, but probably my biggest ones are language/linguistics (which I could talk about for hours on end), music (about which I am incredibly opinionated), geography, and sport, especially football (soccer), ice hockey, and tennis. I love Jesus, trivia games, chocolate, writing stories, and listening to what I perceive to be good music (I did enjoy writing music as well, and hope to get back into it someday). My sometimes snarky and sarcastic sense of humour may be off-putting, but I don't legitimately hate anyone and will ultimately work for someone's good should they need something. Pet peeves include pop music, pop-punk music, atonal music, Nickelback, lack of civility in debates, and the notion that "everyone should speak English or shut up."

This will be the sixth forum I've had moderation privileges on since I started on forums at the end of 2001 - joining eJay Cafe (an old music site), two Cyber Nations alliance forums, PlanetSpurs, and SpursNetwork. Feel free to ask me for help if you should need it.

Pyrite

Pyrite

I'm Daniel, but I use the name 'Pyrite' on the internet. Currently, I am studying Chemistry at a university in the UK, so I may be less active during term time, but that won't stop me from contributing as much as I possibly can. Though I will question whether or not I'm a 'forum veteran', I concede that I've been around here for some time now.

Outside of forums, my primary interest is in game design and I spent a lot of time working on my own games. I also have a strong interest in science and hope to be involved in some sort of scientific research at a university in the near future. I am a Christian and my faith is the most important part of my life.

I first got into forums when I was around 10. My older brother and I used to post at a few Zoo Tycoon sites. It was from there that he found CJ's first forum, which I also joined at a later date. We both posted there regularly, before drifting away from forums a short while after the second forum, which would become The Coffee House, was formed. A few years later, I stumbled upon the forum once again. Though a few things had changed, I was compelled to rejoin the community, a decision I haven't regretted. I really appreciate the people I'm surrounded with on this forum and look forward to meeting more amazing people here.

If you have any questions about the forum or if you'd just like to chat to someone, please feel free to PM me.

Shiny Star

Shiny Star

I'm Shiny Star: a moderator and the youngest staff member of The Coffee House. I've been lurking around forums with this username since 2008, which feels like forever ago looking back on it (and that fact is quite haunting). I'm basically always on social media, catching up with the latest news and gossip and if I'm not, I'm most likely sleeping or being forced to associate with the outside world.

However when I'm not browsing the internet or catching up with school work, my main hobbies are reading, writing and listening to music. I really like videogames and anime too but I have been neglecting those recently. Although this could be classed as a negative thing, I am quite into the mainstream stuff and have some knowledge about most popular franchise. In addition, I tend to try help people out as much as I can and I'm usually always up for a conversation. Which means if you need advice on anything, I will be a good listener and try give a solution towards your problem.

Skills-wise, I am slightly skilled at making graphics (memes and forum sets are my specialty) and I'd class myself as a talented writer. Writing is my main focus and I love reading other people's works for inspiration.

It's nice to be in such a humble community like this one, having been a moderator for over three years I have met some unforgettable people and made some worthwhile memories. Feel free to contact me if you have any queries about anything and I'll respond to you as soon as possible.

I do have other interests as well like reading, drawing, writing, role playing, games, computers, web design, music, animals, etc. I also like ducks and other birds. Oh and dogs! I’ve been into web design off and on since middle school I think. Somewhere around there. I’ve made dozens of sites, but now mostly just run my own forum and blog and host a couple friends, including this lovely forum!
