So, a growing number of companies are experimenting with a new work schedule for their employees. Rather than working five 8-hour days per week, their employees work four 10-hour days. Those days can be rather hard work - but it does mean every weekend is a three-day weekend! Also, it has the advantage of cutting out one commute to and from work every week. So, what are your thoughts on this?
Personally, I just don't think it's for me. I value my free time during the week too much: running this place takes a lot of time, and it's a 7-day-a-week operation. If I gave up two hours of free time a day in exchange for a three-day weekend, I'd probably find myself stressed out on the first four days as I try to cram everything in; then spend maybe one day of my weekend going out; then I'd just spend the other two days at home twiddling my thumbs. A further problem is that I sometimes meet up with friends after work: this would become impossible if I was still working until 7pm. Finally, I care very little about saving a commute, since I only work 10 minutes away from home anyway.
So, what about you?
