Ridley Scott's 1982 science-fiction classic Blade Runner paints a bleak picture of the future. A Los Angeles that has transformed into a dystopian nightmare, with Replicants on the loose and over-pollution leading to an almost constant night time.
But here's the thing. That film is actually set in November 2019. Which, if you hadn't noticed, is now.
The realisation that the time Blade Runner is set, which seemed so far away when it was released, is actually here is blowing people's minds.
Many people have been pondering if the world Scott brought to the screen is actually better or worse than the November 2019 that we're currently living in.
Honestly, it's a tough one. In many ways our world is better than that in the film, but unfortunately we don't have hover cars yet and instead we have Love Island...
Okay, I haven't seen the movie - but, for all the problems with the modern world, I'd still take it over Replicants and constant night-time .
Still, where's my hover car ?
