Needless to say, the Mamluks weren't going to just take this defeat lying down. They retreated back into Egypt to regroup, and rebuild their cavalry forces - which they did rather quickly. Then, the following spring, they moved in to storm the newly-established Kingdom of Jerusalem. In the end, the defenders managed to keep hold of Jerusalem and their other core cities (which had been fortified by now); however, they didn't manage to hold the surrounding territories. The Mamluks reclaimed these - and so, the Kingdom of Jerusalem lost over half of its territory.
The Pongo mainlands weren't faring any better. Many of the Pongo crusaders had settled in the Kingdom of Jerusalem - and so, the mainlands were left depopulated and with a weak army. The Great Tartars took full advantage, by rampaging across the Pongos' north-eastern provinces, leaving them with just their core lands in Hungary and Moldavia.
The other major change took place in New Byzantium. Basileus Isaakos passed away in the year 1478, and the throne passed to his eldest son (who became Basileus Isaakos II). He set about reforming and modernising his realm - which involved integrating his vassals, to make them part of New Byzantium's core territory. One vassal in the west refused to be integrated - and so, they instead became a vassal of the Pongos.

So, can Jerusalem survive?
