I did mention in the opening post that London's history goes back to AD 43. However, a Stone Age ceremonial site has been discovered in Shoreditch, suggesting that the city's history might go back 3,000 years earlier than that:

Of course, it could just be a coincidence: it may be that this site was abandoned 1,000 years or more before the Romans arrived, and started 'London' in its modern form. Perhaps we'll just have to see what else we can find!
