Aliana then spent the rest of the day sat in her father's throne. It was a spectacular piece of furniture, coated in gold leaf and encrusted in pearls - but she didn't have much time to enjoy it, because she knew that anybody could burst in and demand her attention. Fortunately, nobody did - which gave her plenty of time to sort through her father's paperwork. For the most part, it was relatively easy work, if a bit tedious and boring: she just had to read through laws that had been passed, and sign her name on them to make them official. If she disagreed with any of them, or she didn't understand any of them, then she could send them back to the Council - but, she ended up signing most of them anyway.
After three hours of this, she was bored stiff. Nevertheless, she had made good progress: there was only one law left to sign. However, it imposed a 50% tariff on all goods and services imported from Lennart Kingdom - and she wasn't sure whether to sign this, because she knew it would make Tom even angrier, and might encourage him to try and take Kyle back. She immediately dashed off to his room, in order to obtain his opinion.
"Kyle... Dad has a new law he wanted to make," she announced. "He wants to start taxing things that come in from Lennart Kingdom. I don't think that'll go down very well with the people, and it'll certainly make your dad angry... but, if I don't sign it, I expect my dad will be really mad at me . What do you think I should do?"
