I remember Facebook games where people would be competitive to have better farms or shops than friends! I used to play a Sims one back in 2012.
Anyway, I’m a pretty big Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley fan. Those games involve a lot of repetition of daily chores. Like, sorting out weeds, watering plants, talking to neighbours etc. At the same time though, it’s a different version of these tasks everyday. It’s quite addicting to continuously be doing the same chain of events over time and to see progress with it. It reminds me of weight lifting in the sense that you will every time you excercise do the same movements or routines and you’re able to do more and you can physically see the progress in your actions.
However, much like how I would say that these games are highly addictive, it can be hard to get back into sometimes. For example, I think I have like 60 hours currently on Stardew Valley. I got like 20 of those within the first week of playing then I went away for 2 weeks. I found it hard to get back into at first as I couldn’t remember what I had been doing in the game and my addiction was broken.
But yeah, I enjoy games like those. They’re good as they’re casual and you can build up a farm and earn achievements or whatever. It’s even cooler when you can share what you’ve done with other people or play alongside of them.
