Myself, I don't really use wi-fi in cafés and restaurants and things (I only do a few quick phone checks, if even that, and they're all on my mobile data) - but I do sometimes rely on hotel wi-fi, which I expect would be vulnerable to the same problems (and at that point, avoiding those networks isn't really practical, unless you're willing to go offline for a few days).
So, if this does happen to you, are there any easy ways to spot it before it's too late?
