NATIONS UNITE TO PROVIDE AID TO STORM-SLAMMED MADAGASCAR
Many of the world's richest nations have come together in the wake of a destructive cyclone (Batsirai) that has left over a hundred dead and thousands homeless in Madagascar. Three entire blocs are already involved - the New European Union, the NCIS, and LOMAC - and other countries outside these that have pledged either financial or tangible aid include Canada, the New USA, the New Confederacy, Brazil, China, Japan, Korea, the Malay Federation, Australia, New Zealand, the East African Union, Fangland, Calvinia, and the Akan Empire, among others. Furthermore, delivery of this aid will be conducted by a team including NGOs and even government agencies from twenty-six different countries. Among the agencies involved are the New UN's Red Squadron (which is a combination of the Red Cross, the Red Crescent, the Red Wheel, and the Red Star), Samaritan's Purse, Christian Emergency Relief, and our own ERHDC, which has been deployed after a unanimous vote in the High Council. We talked to General Avgust Glinka, the Minister of Defence, about this.
"Is anyone surprised?" the Vayenga resident asked. "We've already seen fourteen million kana raised just by civilian interests to help Madagascar clean up. They definitely got hit the hardest by that hurricane. Réunion was like 'it was barely a scratch for us but it was a serious wound for Madagascar.' Mauritius, yeah, they had a couple people die, but for the most part they escaped the worst of it. A few people have donated to GoFundMe campaigns for the families of those who died. But Madagascar? They're poorer on average and had by far the most damage done. The head of the ERHDC, Jan Neudorf, has already begun rallying the troops! A couple of massive aid trains are coming in from Russia, one headed for Kirov and the other for Viipuri, with contributions from our south. Novgorod's sending its aid through Saransk, which makes the most sense since it's literally right there. That's the same reason BashTat is sending its share through Izhevsk and Cheboksary. Siberia's flying their own in plus donations from Tyva, Buryatia, Chukotka, and even Ural-Altai. Kazakhstan's also in on the flying on behalf of the Stans. This is one of the largest aid packages the NCIS has ever sent this way, and I'm praying God's blessing on this!"
