At long last, we've managed to get a Mentions system working on this place . Just type the character '@', followed by the member's username (enclosed in quotes), and this should send them a notification . Indeed, you don't even have to type it out in full: there should be a popup menu with auto-complete, which will allow you to select the appropriate user.

Yep, I can see it . 

Perhaps you just don't get alerts for mentioning yourself? I'm not sure.
