I'm thinking of a writing contest, but unsure if people would enter. Basically, it has Nanu and Naomi (my oc) doing something cute and romantic. Cutest story wins.

Interesting idea, since we haven't had a writing contest for a while! (I mean, I suppose we've had the limericks, but those test a different skill set)

The only thing is, having it as just your OCs might be a bit limiting, especially since most people probably don't know them. If you do want it to be about your OCs, it's probably worth providing a good amount of background about them in your opening post.

(I might enter, but my entry would probably end up sucking. Even George Lucas can write a more convincing romance than me )

It seems that most people don't really understand the scoring system for Hangman II, so I might close it this evening, and start up "Hangman III".

I did think about just adopting a "20CC per letter and 100CC for solving" system. However, I realized that there's a problem: it doesn't reward quick solving, so it encourages people to just keep guessing letters, even after the solution becomes obvious.

Now, here are my ideas for a new prize structure:

• 10CC per correct letter (e.g. if a player guesses T, and there are two Ts, they win 20CC);
  
• Whoever solves wins 20CC per unrevealed letter (e.g. if they solve with six unrevealed letters, they win 6 x 20 = 120CC);
  
• A Perfect Bonus of 100CC if the puzzle is solved with no mistakes (letters that weren't there or incorrect attempts to solve);
  
• A Blue Ribbon if someone wins the Perfect Bonus without any vowels being filled in.
  

Does this sound OK?

With Hallowe'en coming up, I'd like to ask: who would be interested in some kind of Hallowe'en writing contest?

We've done writing contests in the past (see here and here, for example), but we've never done them consistently, so it should be easy to come up with a theme. It could just be "Write a horror story", or it could be something a bit more specific.

Who would be up for something like this?
