Another Adulthood

"Yeah, that's probably wise," Cassandra agreed. "And Kei's... not that he'll remember a whole lot of that, since he was asleep through much of it anyway. And one last thing... after we have removed his memories, we can't let him see Aliana before he leaves. We don't want him falling in love with her again ..."

[Megan]

“I’ll tell her to stay clear till he leaves.” Nestor said.

[Kyng]

"And we should probably leave him with at least some memories of Tom, and even Jane," Cassandra suggested. "We don't want him to think we're his parents, and start bonding with us . Just make sure he knows who they are - and he has just enough memory of their abuse that he doesn't want to be with them any more, but don't leave him with all of those memories, because that'll just traumatise him..."

[Megan]

Nestor sighed and nodded. “Probably wise…”

[Kyng]

The following day, the procedure was performed. At Cassandra's request, Kyle's memory was modified, so that he had no memory of Aliana or Jocelyn, and fewer memories of his parents. At the same time, his broken nose was discovered, and patched up as best as the doctors could.

That evening, Cassandra arrived by the side of his bed, ready to take Kyle away. "Are you ready to go on your big adventure?"

[Megan]

Kyle rolled his eyes at this. He was still depressed, but he didn't entirely feel sure why, other then the few memories of his parents. "Going to see Alexis isn't an adventure."

[Kyng]

"Well, he has big plans," Cassandra explained. "He intends to recreate his band... if you want, he might even let you in! But if you don't... I'm sure they'll have plenty of fun things for you to do ."

[Megan]

"I don't want to do anything fun." Kyle grumbled looking pouty.

[Kyng]

"Well then what are you going to do with your life?" Cassandra asked. "You can't just spend it all sitting here, and if you don't do anything fun, then your mood is never going to improve..."

[Megan]

“I don’t want to do anything.” Kyle said looking away.
