@ Nilla he's not the only one, I picked it up a couple years ago to try and play civ V with friends and well...

getting connected almost never worked, there was constant disconnects when it did sorta work, and well it's nothing like what I expected but I think it works better over LAN than WAN?

Yeah, Spook is right about this, sadly. Lots of connection issues with multiplayer Civ 5 :( .

And, even when it was working, there was quite a lot of 'down time' while waiting for other players to take their turns. Of course, this is less of an issue with only two players - but, the more you have, the more severe it becomes!

I do have both of those games (though I've never played multi-player on either of them) - so, if anybody else has them, then I'd be happy to give it a go :) !

(Granted, Beyond Earth wasn't a very popular game; however, if anybody else here has it, then I'm open to playing it :P )

I will say that beyond earth was inspired by my favorite sid meier game alpha centauri.

Which I have, on mac, windows, and Linux.

And is an excellent game with the option of play by post as well!

Oh wow, I wonder whether anyone still uses the Play By Post  ?

But, yeah - I do have that (from GOG.com), although I've barely played it.

I don't have Civ 6 but I suppose I will have to get it now. Although I don't care about the uggo graphics.

Well, if the graphics bother you, there is this:

Doesn't fix absolutely everything, but it's still an improvement IMO :) .
