Premier League games not selected for broadcast in October will be available to fans on a pay-per-view basis.

The five fixtures per round not already picked to be shown live, will be available on BT Sport Box Office or Sky Sports Box Office, priced at £14.95.

Clubs have agreed this "interim solution" to allow fans to continue watching their teams live.

The Premier League said it and its clubs "remain committed to the safe return of fans as soon as possible".

Fans have been unable to attend Premier League games since football was halted on 13 March because of the coronavirus pandemic.

£15 per match is really quite a lot IMO. I feel like I pay a lot for Formula One, but a £198 season ticket works out at just under £10 per race in a typical season (and that gets you the practice, the qualifying, and the race - plus whatever other sport happens to be on during the week!)

I can't see many people paying for these: it's too much for casual fans, and committed fans will have a more cost-effective subscription plan... but, what do I know :P ?

It seems that Newcastle have done a bit of a protest against this. They were playing Manchester United this weekend - and they encouraged their fans to donate the money to their local food bank instead of paying to watch the match. In the end, they raised some £20,000:

So, at least some good has come out of this :D . (Also, Newcastle lost the match 4-1, so it's not like their fans missed much by donating :P )

Looks like they're scrapping this:

However, the £14.95 fee - which led to significant protests among fan groups - is expected to be dropped.
I should think so that to me is a total rip off!

It is indeed. £15 for 90 minutes of football is very poor value for money IMO: you're spending £1 for every six minutes. That's easily worse than spending £10 to watch a two-hour film at the cinema (which works out at £1 for every twelve minutes) - and it's much worse than many video games (which often work out closer to £1 per hour).

So, yeah... unless you really, really like football, I don't see how it represents good value :-/ .
