Character deaths that you never got over

Okay, these two hurt .

Squid Game

Ali Abdul (Player #199). He was such a nice guy, and he established a lovely friendship with Cho Sang-Woo (Player #218), only to be betrayed by him in the end . I guess I can understand why Sang-Woo did it (because it was the only way to save his own life) - but, even so, it was still very sad.

Kang Sae-Byeok (Player #067). After she got over the glass bridge to complete the fifth game, it was horrible that she was mortally wounded when the bridge exploded - and then killed by Sang-Woo later that evening . Of course, even if he hadn't done that, she would probably have bled out anyway (because the pink suits certainly weren't going to help her) - but, I was really rooting for her to get out alive, so that she could reunite with her brother, and then help her mum to get out of North Korea...

I've seen theories of these ones somehow surviving. The second one I doubt she has. However, I feel like the first one they could find a way of making live if there is a season 2. Fan favourites... it would be a shame to say goodbye for good. Or at least have some flashbacks.

Yeah, I doubt either of those is true .

Quite often, characters aren't to be considered truly 'dead' unless we see a dead body, or other first-hand concrete evidence of their passing. However, with both of these players, we did see a dead body being loaded into a coffin - so, I don't see either of them coming back from that . (Indeed, if either of them did come back from that in series 2, then it'd just cheapen future deaths where we see a dead body, because I'd be left wondering if they would be reversed!!!)

With that being said, I do hope we see more of these characters in some form - whether it's in flashbacks; some kind of posthumous appearance (e.g. as ghosts); or even just their long-lost twins !!!!

Alice in Borderland

Chōta Segawa, Daikichi Karube, and Saori Shibuki.

We start off with a team of four characters... and then, at the end of the "7 of Hearts" game, three of them are killed off in one go .

Pretty brutal of them to kill off 75% of the characters we care about, in only the third episode. I'd honestly say it was more gut-wrenching than the Marbles episode of Squid Game ...

He figured out what was going on 30 episodes before the main characters. Imagine getting stabbed after finding out vital information, surviving, and then when you're about to share it you get murdered by somebody who looks exactly like your wife.

He was fighting with Wrath alongside Greed-Ling when he was mortally injured. He then decided to kamikazee Wrath, but even that didn't work. He died, but buccaneer stabed through his body and into Wrath so that Fu's death was not in vain.

My favourite anime! This was a nice surprise.

I agree with both. I first watched the original anime when I was like 6 years old. There used to be this channel called Anime Central. Anyways, the first one really did get to me, especially at the funeral with the daughter and his best friend. The second one I wasn’t as attached to the character but it was honourable.

Nina Tucker. The fact her dad did the same thing to her mum then her… his child definitely pulled heart strings. She was adorable and ugh.

Yep, definitely agree with those .

I've already nominated Ali and Sae-byeok in another post earlier in the thread, so I'll just link to that instead of repeating what I've already said there - but, Ji-yeong's death was rather sad too. I thought it was very noble of her to give herself up like that - but, it just made Sae-byeok's death even more tragic, because it meant that Ji-yeong basically sacrificed herself for nothing ...
