Near the end of the game, it is revealed that she didn't actually die - she was instead transported 10 years into the future. But it's also revealed that she can't remain in this time forever, and will eventually have to travel back to the day of the accident to die in the explosion. She and the Professor share a really sweet moment and then as she leaves he takes his hat off (the only time in the entire series that he does this!) I don't at all think that they handled this badly - on the contrary, it was really well done - but it broke my heart at the time because Layton is just the nicest guy ever.![]()
Pendragon main seriesKasha.
Kasha's death was flat out unnecessary. She was shaping up to be an important character. She helped save the (first) turning point of Eelong, she would be like Loor when Loor wasn't there, and she was killed completely out of the blue when the flume collapsed. Just stranding Gunny and Spader would have been enough. At least she came back in book 10.

Squid GameAli Abdul (Player #199). He was such a nice guy, and he established a lovely friendship with Cho Sang-Woo (Player #218), only to be betrayed by him in the end. I guess I can understand why Sang-Woo did it (because it was the only way to save his own life) - but, even so, it was still very sad.
Kang Sae-Byeok (Player #067). After she got over the glass bridge to complete the fifth game, it was horrible that she was mortally wounded when the bridge exploded - and then killed by Sang-Woo later that evening. Of course, even if he hadn't done that, she would probably have bled out anyway (because the pink suits certainly weren't going to help her) - but, I was really rooting for her to get out alive, so that she could reunite with her brother, and then help her mum to get out of North Korea...
