On the old board, I shared this video of a tool-assisted speedrun, in which a speedrunner called Geo completed the game in 95 seconds. It did take advantage of quite a lot of glitches - but, even so, it was a fascinating display of what was possible within the existing mechanics of the game.
However, another speedrunner (called Curcuit) has taken this two steps further. Not only has he shaved five seconds off Geo's time, but he's done it without exploiting any glitches . Watch the following video, by ibxtoycat, to see how it was done:
The video itself starts by showing the run at full speed, in all of its glory. Then, it goes on show the same run again in slow motion, with an analysis of how it works. And, while there aren't any glitches here, there is a lot of insane luck: I'd hate to think how many Villagers have been sacrificed on the altar of RNGesus . There's also a lot of utterly reckless behaviour, which no player in their right mind would do in a serious game. So, don't expect to beat Minecraft in under 90 seconds any time soon; however, the point of a tool-assisted speedrun is to push the limits of what's theoretically possible within the game's mechanics, and this is a spectacular demonstration of that.
(But, if it can be done in 90 seconds without glitches... then, what about with glitches? The record for that is under 30 seconds; I know it's shown at the end of the above video, but I had to link it again, because it's just insane !)
Hope you enjoyed!
