'Then and Now' comparisons

Indeed - sometimes the interesting thing isn't how much some places have changed, but how little some places have changed.

Although, this next one is much happier than some of the others. It shows the Baroque Brauchitschdorf Palace in Poland, which was built in 1728, but plundered by the Red Army after World War II, and damaged further by fire in 1976. Fortunately, between 2009 and 2014, it was restored to its former glory:

They did do a great job with it. Although, must admit I actually do like the look of its ruined form!

Detroit in 1882, and 2017:



Rather sad . Not only because it illustrates the decline of the city itself, but those old buildings would've been beautiful when they were new, and in good condition!
