Are you afraid of the dentist?

I wasn't afraid of the actual dentist, I was afraid of the loud tools that they used. For some reason I was really afraid of that hose they use to clean out water and toothpaste from your mouth.

Update since this post. I’m not afraid of the dentist anymore. 2 years ago I had to get a tooth removed due to trauma then a filling falling out. I realised that although not enjoyable, going to the dentist can prevent problems from progressing and being undetected in your mouth. I also see it as a way to start work later in the day. ;)

I take a lot better care of my teeth then I used to. I’ve had the tooth extraction and fillings so I know what to expect a lot more now. I think the only stuff now which would make me a bit nervous is if I had a different dentist or I had to have work done at the front of my mouth. I go every 6 months.

Glad to hear it :D !

I'm certainly not afraid of the dentist either, now that I have endoscopies to be afraid of instead :P .

And this is still relevant for me... a needle in my gum just to put a filling back in? I'd rather have bamboo shoots into my fingernails.

I agree with this. I feel like it’s so much worse in the top gum, although I have had minimal done to my bottom teeth. The numbing was wearing off when I had my tooth extracted and he didn’t top it up. I had a friend who opted to be put to sleep to deal with multiple fillings at once.
