Book Club ?
Would anyone like to do a Book club
#11
If you're going to do a book club, why don't the book club vote on what they want to read?

She's actually doing a poll here. However, the poll's only been open for three hours... IMO, it's way too early to close it now, when not everyone's had a chance to vote yet!

(And sadly, I don't really have time to sign up for this myself, but I hope anyone else who signs up for it enjoys it :) )

I think it could be a great idea, though I can't really participate right now.

I think a good idea is let people nominate books and vote for them for each meeting. (Say once every 1-4 weeks)
Shouldn't take more than a few days to get the title selected.

To help people stay in the loop, I'd link to the nominations and polls here, helps everyone find it.
Can also use a consistent title like "TCH Book Club Meeting #1, 12/24/19 Book Nomination" for the threads themselves as well.

Give a few days to nominate, plus a few days to vote and then it's off to the library to pick up the book and get working at it.

Depends on the book. I can’t do bleak stuff or contemporary era so Shun Takumi's Battle Royale, A million random digits, Atlas Shrugged, Thomas Covenant, The Turner Diaries, anything S&M Stirling, and anything Garth Ennis are out.

Well, given that this thread was started three years ago (by someone who has since deleted their account), I wouldn't hold out too much hope :P .

Although, if anybody else wants to revive the idea, then I'd certainly be open to it :) !

Got too many books waiting to be read as it is! Can't start ignoring those for even longer to read further novels! Nice idea though it is. If anyone happens to be reading a book which I already have, perhaps I can take part. :D

I like the idea in principle, but the members base here is so eclectic that I can't imagine getting us to agree on any book to read. :P

I'd be open to it.

But I'm kinda leaning towards it depends on what book it is.
