The original stars of Jurassic Park are to reunite for the next instalment of the dinosaur film franchise.

Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum will reprise their roles in the upcoming Jurassic World 3.

The actors led the cast of the 1993 hit, directed by Steven Spielberg, and have appeared separately in subsequent instalments.

Dern confirmed she was "so excited" to rejoin her "friends" at a Los Angeles screening of Jurassic World on Tuesday.

Afterwards she added: "Loved joining my buddy, Colin [Trevorrow, director], to announce the return of the original cast of Jurassic Park back into the Jurassic World."

It's a pity Richard Attenborough won't be able to join them; however, I'll be interested to see what capacity the classic characters return in. I hope it's more than a cameo - but, at the same time, I hope they're not so prominent that they start taking over the movie from the newer ones.

TBH I don't remember a whole lot about Fallen Kingdom: I saw it, but for the most part, it didn't stick in my mind.

I expect I'll still watch this one, though .

Bringing back old characters would make sense since the dinosaurs are out roaming in the public now, so understandably anyone who in the past was "Lulz I ain't going back to that death trap of an island" doesn't really have much choice in being involved now.

I have only ever seen the first installment, so I don't have much of a stake on this one... but I kinda wanna see it.
