One thought I did have about this prefix was: would this overlap with the 'Review' prefix - for example, if somebody wanted to review a retro game? But actually, I don't think this would be a problem, because a Review thread about a retro game would serve a different purpose from a Nostalgia thread about the same game. (The Nostalgia thread would be sharing memories and experiences of playing it back then; whereas the Review thread would be informing people about what it's like to play it today)

Well, the reason why I never implemented the Nostalgia prefix was simply that I forgot all about it ! I got distracted by the preparations for 13th Anniversary Week, and then simply never came back to this once that was over.

So, I'd be happy to implement the Nostalgia/Retrospective prefix next. But I'd also probably scrap the 'How To' prefix, because:

• It hasn't proven to be very useful, and;
  
• It conflicts with using the 'Artwork' and 'Writing' prefixes in the new "Tutorials and Creative Discussion" sub-forum (which I would like to do, but can't if all the art tutorials are going to have 'How To' prefixes!)

I think there are a couple of issues with polls - and hence, I rarely make board decisions based on them these days.

First of all, they don't take into account people's intensity of preferences. If I come up with an idea that 70% of the community is thinks is quite good, but the other 30% thinks is absolutely terrible (to the point where they'd leave the community if I implemented it) - then, a poll will tell me that I should implement it. But, would it really worth risking the loss of 30% of our member base, over something that isn't that important to the remaining 70% who only "quite like it"?

Secondly, polls don't really fit in with my way of working. I prefer to try and discuss and talk things out, and try to build a consensus. To take my previous example: I'd want to try and find a way to modify my idea, to make it more acceptable to that 30%, whilst still achieving my intended goals. Granted, it won't always be possible to do that (after all, people want different, and often opposite, things), but I think it's important to at least try.

With that being said, I can't see anyone being alienated by the addition of a "Nostalgia" prefix, or the removal of the "How To" prefix. If anything, I expect a poll would have the opposite problem: it would get a lot of "I don't care" votes or people just not participating . In truth, I could quite easily have just made that change on the fly, without offering it up for discussion first, and probably nobody would have paid it much attention - but I still wanted to give people the chance to comment on it nonetheless.

I went with the name 'Lookback' in the end. I decided 'Retrospective' was too long, while 'Retro' and 'Nostalgia' were too vague.

Any thoughts?

Some like polls, some don't. I personally prefer to just talk as well. It's like taking surveys. Sometimes a simple Yes or No doesn't suffice when there are gray areas. So I totally understand

I'm not good with graphics but I like the uniqueness of "Lookback".
