I mean, perhaps it's a little unfair to put it in a "Bad Maps Thread", because the information presented is technically correct. But... duh .

The problem with this map is simple: poor choice of scale. 42 of the 50 states are in the highest category ("at least 8,000 per 100k"), and some states (including Rhode Island and the Dakotas) are over 14,000 per 100k.

IMO, a more sensible choice of scale would be as follows: under 3k; 3k-6k; 6k-9k; 9k-12k; over 12k. In fact, I might even future-proof this map, by having "12k-15k" and an "over 15k" categories: there aren't any states that are over 15k right now, but some are not that far off!

As you may be aware, a lot of people accidentally leave New Zealand off their maps - and it's something of a running joke.

Anyway, here's another one from Railroad Tycoon II. The second scenario of the Classic campaign has a fairly simple objective: build a railroad from New York City to Chicago. Both cities are in the correct location - and, as far as I can tell, all of the others are... but, there's something very wrong with the territorial borders :

Earlier today, I saw the following poll on YouTube, asking users which of the flags didn't match the corresponding country map:



The answer is, of course, (b) - which shows the Turkish flag on a map of Egypt. However, a couple of the other maps are... pretty suspect:

• First of all, map (a) shows Kosovo as part of Serbia. That's... contentious, to say the least, given that over half of the world's countries (including the vast majority of Western countries) recognise Kosovo as an independent nation. However, there are still a decent number of countries (including some influential ones, like Brazil, Russia and China) that do not recognise Kosovo as independent. So, I'll let this slide.
  
  
• However, I will not allow map (d) to slide. For some reason, this map shows that France has conquered Belgium (or at least, the French-speaking part of it). Did I miss something ?
