It was obnoxious to use this service, so I dumped them years ago. (I get the occasional email asking me to come back, and I'm like, not even in your dreams).

I wonder if Disney will change the rules or not, because it would be nice to use Hulu again. But with the ridiculous amount of ads they have for a paying customer, it's not worth it imo.

The heck...?
It should be a free service if they're going to run ads.

It started a free service, with ads, then offered a paid sub that was ad free (and new episodes of show would air next day, free was a week behind), then went to paid only with ads, then a year or two back offered a higher tier membership where "some shows would be ad free".

The issue with Hulu is that it was owned by the telecoms (i.e. Comcast, and some others) who started Cable TV as ad free in the 70s then at some point added ads, because money.
Wow. What a ***** evolution.

The Cable TV thing sounds like Foxtel here, they only had ads for shows internally aired in the 90's...Then ads crept it...And before you knew it, you were paying for a subscription TV platform with as many, if not sometimes more ads, than free to air commercial TV.

I like Hulu personally but only with the ad free version. The ad version got on my nerves because the ads were so loud compared to the show, though that might be because I've been watching older shows.

I'm hoping that the Disney sole ownership won't change much but expecting the worst at this point.

I keep it simple...I don't watch tv. :P But I'm curious what Disney's streaming service will be like.  If they put older films up I might subscribe for a bit to watch older stuff like their older nature films.

Disney rattled off plenty of info for Disney+ at D23 this week.
Covered the release date of 11/12/19, announced streaming compatible devices, price point, and several of the new exclusive shows and movies including a remake of Lady and the Tramp, a new Star Wars show, and continuations of Star Wars Clone Wars; Lizzie McGuire; and Proud Family.

There's a few things I have a light interest in but nothing super stellar beyond the two Disney Channel show continuations. The main interest for me would be letting me have access to the Disney movies and shows I grew up with but at this point I don't know if that's a thing.

Disney+ doesn't launch until November 12. Which is only 2 month's from now, so not that far off. At $6 plus Hulu for $5 that'll be about $11 a month total. Not including if you (maybe) want both to be ad free. (Which I'm sure will be a thing.)
