A few more that I probably should have posted earlier:
- Cholmondeley - village in south-west Cheshire, whose name is pronounced 'CHUM-lee', for some reason . Known for a mock castle, built in the early 19th century.
- Daresbury - village in north Cheshire, whose name is pronounced 'DARS-bury' (so the first syllable rhymes with 'cars', not 'cares'). Known for its science labs.
- Magdalen College - A college of Oxford University, whose name is pronounced 'MAW-da-lin'. (Cambridge University has the very similarly-named 'Magdalene College', which has the same pronunciation)
