Pyrite's Connecting Wall

So, for those who don't know, every once in a while, Kyng sets up a contest called a Connecting Wall. Unforunately, these tend to end up being dominated by me, because I'm stupidly persistent and have watched about as much of Only Connect as he has.  

In an attempt to redress the balance, and create a Connecting Wall that someone other than me has a good chance of getting a ribbon at, I've decided to have a go myself. Now, I haven't created one of these in years, so if there's a very easy/very hard difficulty, I will do my best to improve in future, or stick in hints/limits as appropriate. Anyway, on to the rules. I'm cross-posting these from CJ's last wall:
 

• The wall contains 20 words, which can be divided into five groups of four, in such a way that the four members of each group are connected to one another in some way.
  
• There are 300 Coffee Credits available for each group: 100 for the first person to identify the four group members correctly; 100 for the first person to identify the reason why those group members are connected; and a bonus 100 if the same person gets both in the same post.
  
• In order to prevent one person from dominating, or someone from winning without any skill by simply running through all possible combinations, you are limited to four guesses per day for combinations, and four guesses per day for reasonings.
  
• Invented Combos - At the end of the contest, I will award 100 Coffee Credits to each of the three incorrect guesses that I consider to be the most plausible/creative. These won't be ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd: I'll just pick my favourite three. (If you want, you can re-use words from groups that have already been found, in order to go for invented combo points!)
  
• A  Green Ribbon is given to the winner if they win at least 1000 Coffee Credits (if two people score), 800 Coffee Credits (if three people score), or 600 Coffee Credits (if four or more people score).
  
• The contest is open until Saturday, 18th June 2019 at 11:59pm GMT, or until all five groups and reasonings are found (whichever is sooner).

Neither of these are correct, but they're good starts for the invented combo points.

Anyway, I think it's high time I offered a hint, so here you go:

Higgs / Hawks / Kg / Lag - Adding an 'I' and an 'N' gives you the name of a snooker player (John Higgins / Barry Hawkins / Mark King / Liang Wenbo)

I'm unsure about the combo, because 'Lag' doesn't quite fit into it: the 'I' and the 'N' aren't together. However, I can't see anything else for which this works .

Yup, that's it! Those are names of snooker players with an 'I' and 'N' removed. The player above is Robert Milkins, who was close to being on the wall himself.

Well, even if you had put "Milks" on the wall, I wouldn't have spotted it without the hint. I keep forgetting about Robert Milkins .

Can't think of anything else right now, so let's see what other people can come up with .
