I've never used Android and always had an iPhone/iPad. I think my mother and father paid for most if not all of the iPhones I've owned for special occasions; birthday/Christmas. I paid for my iPad Plus at Walmart (got a 10% employee discount on it) though, thinking I was going to be gaming and watching stuff on it all the time, but I still tend to use my iPhone for that kind of stuff and I let my father use it to watch his shows. I realized I didn't mind watching/playing on a smaller screen, sometimes it can be preferable.
I can't speak on behalf of Android since I've never used it, but I've had little to no problems with iPhones thus far and I've been using them since about the year they were released publicly, I think. The iPhone plays a big role in my life, where I can use it for nearly anything necessary, whether it be for entertainment purposes or online banking. I'd hate to give up my iPhone since I've grown so attached to it through using it so much, but if for some reason I needed to downgrade to an Android, I'm sure I'd appreciate what it can do too.
