Most of us who are into sci-fi will have seen some humongous starships - far bigger than any that we humans have constructed. There are plenty that are several kilometres long, which sounds impressive enough - but then, there are some truly insane ones
.
In the following video, by MetaBallStudios, starships from various sci-fi media franchises are shown alongside one another, in order to compare their sizes. For reference, a couple of objects from Earth are also shown (including, towards the end, the Earth itself - because some of them are that big
):
As stunning as some of the larger ones were to me, the biggest surprise for me personally came from two of the smaller ones. I never realised that the Enterprise was 8½ times the length of the Millennium Falcon: I'd always assumed they were roughly similar in length. Just shows how little I know, I guess
