Of the neverending console wars between Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, there's now a new contender... Google, with this. Thoughts, anyone?

I am just going to quote my self here. Replace MS with Google as needed.

This has been done in the past before...and it never really took off,
In the 00s you have OnLive actual streaming. The issue then as now, is that even in places wtih great internet lag is still a big issue unless you live "right next" to the data center, but even then if you network is crowded (and in the case of wifi in close living space with others with their own wireless networks), you are going to have a bad time.

Lag is still an issue with graphics, and most other data is handed locally, once it all gets off loaded to a far away server... Angry German Kid will be back


Honestly this is once again Silicon valley and Redmond being just being in their own bubble and disconnected from the rest of the world. It is why there was backlash when the Xbone was at first going to be "Always online" then "you had to use the camera thing no choice" and now look at what happened to both once the gaming public reacted.

The only "advantage" this really has is it can be used on almost any device it seems.

I get the feeling that this may suffer the same awful fate as what happened with the Apple Pippin. Also, if Google were to be successful with this (which I and others would doubt), it could have a drastic impact on the gaming industry.

Theirs would allow people to pay a one-time fee to get access to a range of games for their iPhones and iPads. So, it seems like most of the games on it will be shallow mobile junk, rather than the kinds of games that any serious gamer would want to play. (Though, it doesn't sound as though there would be much multi-player gaming, so I guess lag wouldn't be an issue, at least !)

I don't see this being a thing for very long tbh. I don't see how Google will be able to compete with the likes of Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. I doubt Google would've had what it takes to beat out the likes of Sega even, back in the day. This just seems like another crappy set-top box for mobile games and other garbage shovelware.

The base subscription price will be $10 per month, with a free option planned for next year. The controller will sell for $70; however, it'll also be available as part of a "Founder's Edition" package (along with a Chromecast Ultra, a copy of Destiny 2, a three-month subscription, and a three-month buddy pass, for $130.

There's also a list of the games that'll be available on launch - so, you can take a look to see if there's anything that interests you .

Problem is.. That any of those games releasing for Google Stadia I can get on Playstation, Xbox or even Steam. So what's even the point in investing in Google Stadia again? Oh wait: none.

Not remotely amused by it so far.
Basically a cheap hybrid clone of Steam and Xbox Game Pass.

And without an actual console or physical copies it's also killing any incentive to jump in.
