In the opening post, I mentioned that Greater London was divided into 33 districts: the City of London, and 32 boroughs. So, here's a bit more information about those subdivisions, in the form of "Unfinished London" videos by Jay Foreman.

First, we have a video about the history behind the boroughs, and how they came to be:

The second one is about how they function today, and what problems they cause:

Doesn't sound like a system that's going to change any time soon, even if it does have its problems sometimes!

Here we have a video showing some of the oldest surviving footage of London, taken between 1890 and 1920. There are also some 'then and now' comparisons, showing the old clips alongside modern footage from the same locations:

Quite a lot that's changed, but also quite a lot that's stayed the same!

Here's a new video, showing London's outward expansion over the years:

It really did expand massively in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Makes me wonder how much bigger it would have grown had Green Belt legislation not been introduced to put a stop to that!

Apparently, artist David Hockney has been commissioned to re-design the London Underground logo for Piccadilly Circus. He decided to... make it look like it was done by a child in MS Paint:

This has divided opinion, but I myself find it utterly cringeworthy  . Mildly amusing, but shouldn't be kept for any significant length of time, otherwise it'll just get old.

Apparently, the much-ridiculed Marble Arch Mound, dubbed "London's worst tourist attraction", will be closing on Sunday, after five months of operation:

Probably for the best... I don't understand what the appeal was anyway. It was just a viewpoint without a nice view -_- !!!

I don't know, but personally, I hope not  . As you probably gathered from my previous post, I'm not really a fan of it :( !
