This was ages ago, but I've only just properly seen it. I really like your list, but a weird thought has come to mind. How would we class structures that have gone into space? Say, the International Space Station or the Hubble Space Telescope, for example? Could they hypothetically be in contention for a position on "Wonders of the 20th Century"?

Those are interesting thoughts :) !

I guess they can't really go on the "7 Wonders of the Modern World" list, for the simple reason that they're outside 'the world' :lol: . As for "7 Wonders of the 20th Century"... Hubble would qualify, but unfortunately the ISS wouldn't, because it wasn't completed until 2011 (thus failing the "Must have been completed in or before 1999" requirement). Also, the ISS is due to be de-orbited in 2030 - so, in 7 years' time, it'll no longer exist and will need to be replaced by something else!

Maybe we could do a "7 Wonders of Space Exploration" thread, but that's probably a matter for the "Astronomy and Space Life" section :lol: .

Ah, I didn't realise the ISS was only completed then. I just knew it was launched before the turn of the millennium. Still, I like the 7 Wonders of Space Exploration idea! It would probably need a new thread though, like you say. :P

Actually, the discussion started on old TCH with a reference to this very poll. So we've come full circle! :P

You guys already picked all the good ones XD

But let me try anyway...

The Königsberger Dom in Königsberg.

The Hofburg in Vienna.

The Friedhof Der Namenlosen in Austria (this one is eerie and powerful... even though it won't pass most people's definition of "beautiful").

The Big Ben (because, come on).

The Marienburg Castle in Poland.

The Benedictine Abbey of Reichenau.

The Cathedral of La Plata.

let me try (I'm biased towards Europe):

* CN Tower in Toronto
* Christ the Redeemer in Rio
* Prague Orloj (Prague astronomical clock)
* Park Güell in Barcelona (if you know, you know)
* Kremlin in Moscow (its design is wild)
* Palace of Versailles in Versailles
* Schloss Neuschwanstein in Hohenschwangau

* Just in case Park Güell doesn't count, then I'll say Frederiksborg Slot in Hillerød, Sagrada Família in Barcelona, and Notre-Dame in Paris.

It's so hard to pick. So many beautiful places in this world.

Some good suggestions there!

Sadly, I didn't get the chance to visit Park Güell when I went to Barcelona - but, if I ever return, I'll have to check it out :) .
