I am Pokemon73, starting today (which was September 3rd, 2015 on the old forum starting here ) I'll be covering all the news available from events to other things in the Pokemon universe! Let's begin!

Video Games:

Niantic have confirmed that at July 1st at 20:00 UTC, new Field Research tasks will begin to appear in Pokémon GO. With this, there is a focus on Pokémon from the Kanto region, with a focus shown on Snorlax as well as a note about Pikachu, Eevee and Ditto being available within it. It's currently unknown what Pokémon will be given for the Research Breakthrough

Other:

The Pokémon Company International has announced some new releases of their Pokémon TV app. This app allows for watching of the Pokémon anime, with episodes rotating in and out sequentially weekly, with some special promotions bringing themed episodes and movies up. This app is back on the Amazon Fire TV due to a new update. However, it's now also available on Sharp and Sony Smart TVs directly so you can download the app directly to those devices in North America

Video Games:

For those of you who participated in the 2018 International Challenge June Battle Competition, the entry gift is now available to all qualifying players through this link after logging into the Global Link. This gift is 50 Battle Points and can be redeemed by July 31st 2018

Pokémon Shuffle has begun Week 20 of its event cycle. This cycle has the following stages that will run for a week
The Ultra Challenge Stage is a stage for Tapu Lele
The Great Challenge Stages are Hitmonlee, Thundurus Therian Forme, Ash-Greninja, Stufful & Bewear
The Daily Pokémon are Pikachu (Sleeping), Torchic (Winking), Treecko (Winking), Mudkip (Winking), Castform (Winking)
There's a One Chance Per Day stage for Thundurus Incarnate Forme
There's a Special stage for Porygon-Z
In addition to this, there's a Giratina Origin Forme Escalation Battle which will run for two weeks.

Other:

For those of you who have the social media app, LINE on your iOS, Android or Windows Mobile devices, The Pokémon Company have put out some new stickers. These stickers are focused on the Pokémon Eevee and its evolutions. It costs £1.49/$1.99/180¥ to purchase

Video Games:

Some further information has been revealed about the upcoming Research Breakthrough for completing a week of research. The Research Breakthrough Pokémon as of July 1st will be a Snorlax which has the special move of Body Slam, a move it had in previous versions but stopped in November 2016

Other:

The game Pokémon Quest is now available to download on mobile devices. This game was first released on the Nintendo Switch last month and they covered it in full including Location Listings, A Comprehensive Pokémon Section, Decorations Listings, Recipes Listings and more so be sure to check their section(s) for all the game's details.
Do note that progress from the Nintendo Switch cannot be transferred to mobile or vice versa
The mobile game also allows access to the Mini Expedition Pack which has a Pikachu Surfboard Item, 100 PM Tickets and a Pikachu with Surf. This only is available for the first 72 hours of your game.

The official site in Japan has showcased two new customisation options for your Pikachu & Eevee. These let you attach certain items such as flowers to your Pokémon's ear, body or tail. With this, They've updated their Pre-Release Screenshot Page with some new screenshots and it came with a small video. It has also been announced that Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon, Let's Go Eevee! will be at Japan Expo in Paris, France on July 5th through July 8th. While the games won't be playable at the event, there are said to be special stage presentations daily for the games. It's currently unclear if any new information will be showcased but they'll provide details as and when we get them

It has been confirmed that Tornadus & Thundurus are to be distributed next month as part of the Year of Legendary Pokémon. In Europe and Australia it will be available over the Nintendo Network from July 6th through July 22nd. In Sun & Ultra Sun, you will receive Thundurus and in Moon & Ultra Moon you will receive Tornadus. In Sun & Moon the Pokémon are Level 60 while in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon they're Level 100 with a Gold Bottle Cap. Their Event Database has been updated with details of the event. It is also confirmed that they will be available in the United States a through Serial Code at Target stores from July 13th through July 28th and to be given in Canada through serial codes in the Pokémon Trainer Club Newsletter some time in July

Following on from the release in the wild it had on Saturday, there have been numerous reports that Alolan Rattata can now be found in 7km eggs that are obtained through the Friend System. In addition to this, the gift system has been updated and you can now hold 10 gifts at a time rather than 5, but the limits of 20 for opening remain. Niantic have announced the details for the special Ultra Bonus if all of the special targets are met during the special Summer Challenge during the Pokémon GO Safari Zone in Dortmund this weekend. If all tasks are met, then a special Articuno Day will happen on July 7th. During this time, players will get 5 free raid passes as a Gym and, on July 7th for three hours, Articuno will appear, with a chance of being shiny.
The tasks over the weekend and rewards (which run from July 2nd through July 9th are:
Safari Zone - Complete 100,000 Research Tasks - Catch EXP Increase
Europe - Complete 5,000,000 Research Tasks - Raid EXP Increase
Americas - Complete 5,000,000 Research Tasks - Hatch EXP Increase
Asia Pacific - Complete 5,000,000 Research Tasks - Lucky Eggs last 1 hour
With the Global Challenge and Safari Zone, some new boxes have gone live
Special Box - 480 Coins - 4 Incense, 3 Incubators, 4 Lucky Egg

VGC:

Details for the 2018 Pokémon World Championships have been released. As usual, you need to register to spectate with a Pokémon Center that doesn't require a badge. Spectator badges cost $10 and they get 2 booster packs of cards. In addition to Pokkén Tournament DX's Last Chance Qualifier which costs $30 (and also provides 6 booster packs), there's also the Nashville Open, a competition for Championship Points in the 2018/19 season. A stream will also be available

Other:

For those of you who have the social media app, SNOW on your iOS, or Android Mobile devices, The Pokémon Company have put out some new stamps. These stickers are focused on the Pokémon Quest and feature the Pokéxel versions of Pikachu and Eevee. They will be live from tomorrow

Today and tomorrow is the Dortmund Safari Zone in Pokémon GOVand with this, various special events are happening globally. First, from when the Safari Zone begins, players will find larger amounts of Roselia, with Shiny Roselia also being available. In addition to this, there are special Global Challenges to complete that provide rewards. If all regions complete these challenges, then a 3 hour Articuno Day will run on July 7th
The tasks over the weekend and rewards (which run from July 2nd through July 9th are:

A new event distribution has been announced for Japan. On leaflets in the Pokémon Centers in Japan it has been confirmed that the Mythical Pokémon Jirachi will once again be given away at the Pokémon Center in Tohoku from August 1st through August 31st to celebate the Tanabata Festival. It's currently unclear what moves or items the Jirachi has but they will post as they get further information

As part of the monthly rotation of Field Research, new Field Research tasks will begin to appear in Pokémon GO. With this, there is a focus on Kanto Pokédex Pokémon including Pikachu, Eevee and Ditto, and Snorlax with Body Slam has rotated in as the Research Breakthrough reward. In addition to this, due to all the challenges being completed globally, the rewards will go live tomorrow and Articuno Day is to run on July 7th 2018. They'll bring more details as they come

It has been confirmed that during the Community Day on July 8th 2018, if you evolve Wartortle into Blastoise during the three hour window, your Blastoise will know the fast move, Hydro Cannon. The Community Day runs at the following times:
The Asia-Pacific region: 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. JST (GMT +9)
Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India: 09:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. UTC (GMT +0)
The Americas and Greenland: 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. PST (GMT -8)
If you complete specific Field Research during the Community Day, you will have a chance of encountering a Squirtle wearing Sunglasses

Following the success of the Pokémon GO Summer Challenge during the Dortmund Safari Zone event, the Global Challenge rewards are live until July 9th 2018 at 20:00 UTC, the special rewards of 3* Capture Experience, 2* Raid Experience, 3* Hatching Experience as well as 1 hour long Lucky Eggs are running. This will also include the special Articuno Day on Saturday July 7th. At present times aren't confirmed for North America or Europe, but in Japan it's set to run from 12:00 to 15:00 JST

The smartphone game, Pokémon Duel, has had a new update. This patch takes it to version 6.0.11 and requires 247MB of space on your mobile device to download. It is required to update in order to play the game
This patch contains various brand new figures. The UX Figures are Regigigas, Mega Rayquaza & Mega Glalie
The EX Figures are Regice & Drampa
The R Figures are Glalie, Froslass & Alolan Vulpix
The UC Figures are Snorunt
Several new Plates have also been added to the store
