Costa Coffee no longer serving heated cinnamon buns after customers burn their lips

Costa Coffee has made an unpopular change to its menu due to “health and safety” policies.

The high street coffee chain has confirmed that it no longer gives patrons the option of heating up purchased cinnamon buns in store.

Part of the café’s long-time menu, the cinnamon bun consists of sweet dough swirled with cinnamon and sugar filling and topped with cream cheese icing. It is a treat that many people prefer served warm, an option that was previously offered at the majority of branches upon request.

Recently, however, customers have posted on social media complaining that they are no longer able to get their pastries warmed up, which has prompted Costa Coffee to confirm they have stopped offering this service.

In response to one person on social media saying they were “absolutely gutted” to no longer have their cinnamon bun served warm, the coffee chain explained that they had stopped offering the “heat up” service after receiving several reports of people burning their mouths on the hot icing.

Yep, I've had a few people complain about this at work with customers telling me "Shame you can't heat them anymore." So I can confirm some people are disappointed.

Can't say I've ever seen a single person burn their mouths on the cinnamon buns at the one I work in. But I guess it's an easy thing to do.

Although, people should know that heated food is going to be hot and that they need to let it cool otherwise there is always a risk of burning your lip. This is where people need to use common sense.

It isn’t worth the sue. I can imagine they’re nice warmed up - but sometimes when I go to Greggs I wish it was hotter. I don’t think you can win either way with it as you can’t serve something too hot but equally people won’t want it cold. There’s that famous case where a lady burnt herself on a hot McDonalds drink and won a lot of money from it.

More so when the coffee served to her was much hotter than it should be (yet her own mistake was placing it between her thighs as her car didn't have cup holders).

Don't know if this was the same case regarding this though, or are those that complained are a bunch of snowflakes...

Be careful you don't get sued  !

But, joking aside... yeah, I can understand why some customers would be annoyed about this. Though, I don't see why the cinnamon buns would be any more risky than any of the other hot food (or hot drinks) being served - so, perhaps there's some issue with the buns themselves?
