'Internally decapitated' woman's head reattached

A woman had her skull reattached to her spine after being 'internally decapitated' in a freak football injury.

Megan King fell to the ground when playing football in 2005 when she was just 16, damaging her spine and tearing her shoulder muscles.

Despite dozens of surgeries to fix her issues, her condition continued to decline - leaving doctors scratching their heads.

Ms King was left in agony as her muscles began to tear apart and her joints weakened.

A decade after her original injury, doctors diagnosed her with hypermobile Ehler 's-Danlos syndrome (hEDS).

Yikes - that sounds like a very nasty injury, and it seems she's had to suffer with it for a very long time :( .

Though, hopefully, this surgery will be just what she needs, and she'll be able to live a much more normal life from now on!

Even worse for ppl in the stunt business over football. Casualties are of similar levels, however those committed to their stunt career are reluctant to seek medical assistance during head concussions due to the negative career prospects.

Well, if I had a stunt career, and had an injury like this, I'd probably have to give it up for the sake of my own health :P !

I know you prioritise your mental health over money too :P

You’d rather not be earning £100, 000 a year if that means lots of stress ;)

Stunts going wrong always reminds me of Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double becoming paralysed. Or was it Dylan O’Brien who got injured on set? I always admire people who do stunts no matter how complex it is as there’s always at least some risk. I agree that sports and stunts are professions where injury is more likely. Sometimes the money isn’t worth it but it also depends on your passions.

My word, what an ordeal to go through and you would never think that would happen because of an internal football injury!

I don’t know exactly - a quick search came up with $62,000-£70,000 per annum. But I would assume it would also vary depending on the budget and how big the movie is and the skill set required to perform the stunt. I would hope that people would receive a big pay out for stunts which lead to injury but I have a feeling that they may just sign a waiver or an agreement beforehand and not get as much as you’d think.

I’m sure they sign a waiver :P

Not to mention, injuries can happen regardless of dkill level! Just like how grandmasters aways blunder in chess :P

Also newcomers to the industry likely perform easier stunts and being the less experienced, are also likely to face injuries.
