Coventry City face a race against time to secure a new ten-year agreement to stay at the CBS Arena or face being issued with a fine.
Club owner Doug King secured a five year extension to continue playing at the stadium owned by Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group in April 2023 following cordial but protracted talks for several months, with the sticking point at the time understood to have been over the annual rent.
As a result of the club’s historical stadium issues, the EFL have introduced a new rule to ensure football clubs have secure tenancy agreements in place at stadiums where they don’t own the ground.
*Sigh* The various moments of ground sharing and rent issues that have happened at various points over the last 12 years are just ridiculous. I'm sick of this whole issue with the CBS drama at this point.
We need to just buy ownership of the stadium, build a new stadium to move to, or complete a permanent deal.
