GAME annoy staff and customers with over-priced Pokémon cards

GAME staff have accused the UK retailer of "scalping" Pokémon cards after the company began hitching massive shipping costs to the online sale of 'Prismatic Evolutions' mini tins (thanks, Eurogamer).

These mini tins are no novelty for a TCG expansion. They contain two booster packs and a collectible coin and retail for £10.99, tidy. The problem is that GAME is adding a bulky £19.99 "Oversized delivery" fee on top of that, making the overall purchase a little less 'mini' than the name suggests.

Speaking anonymously to Eurogamer, GAME staff described the practice as the company "scalping" its own stock, with an unreasonable portion of Prismatic Evolutions items being hoarded to the online site rather than shipped to stores.

This, the employees said, has left them to take the brunt of customer complaints as stores have been unable to stock the highly sought-after set while the site cashes in on the demand.

GAME has become increasingly irrelevant in recent years and just rips people off like this. The fact it cost extra to collect it from the store is so so silly.

Used to love going to GAME stores as a kid and buying Xbox games from there. Now it's just full of random board games and toys that are over-priced and have almost zero actual games.

Haven't shopped at GAME since 2017 or so. Used to be good to get second-hand games from them, but now they sell almost zero games and they sell them at RRP. I miss when Gamestation used to be around.

Yeah, they've lost all relevance over the years, and TBH I'm surprised they're still going. And this kind of stuff just leaves an even sourer taste in my mouth.

I guess they have to make money to stay in business somehow, but it's not a good look .

I’ve heard that this pack is really desirable and demand though. Pokémon cards are a money making scheme for some so some people will be willing to play inflated places. Shouldn’t be so inflated if it’s over shipping though and it sucks for people who want to genuinely collect.

If I ever come to any of their shops and I became victim to this, especially as someone who abhors Pokemon so much, I'd tell them to stick it up to where the sun doesn't shine.
