I finished fan-translating the Robotech comics from the 80s: a story

When the TV show Robotech was on the air (if you don't know or remember what Robotech is, I wrote a whole thread about it here ), one of its first tie-in products were three comic book series based on it, published by the defunct "Comico The Comic Company". The three series corresponded to the show's three story arcs; thus, we had one series for the Macross saga, one for the Robotech Masters saga, and one for the Invid saga (called "Robotech: The New Generation", for some reason). They ran concurrently from 1985 to 1989.

Despite the show's huge popularity in Latin America, the comics didn't have the healthiest publication history in the region. It is known that Argentine media company Ledafilms released the first 13 issues of The Macross Saga, before abruptly changing gears and switching to Robotech: The Masters for the next three issues (issues 14, 15 and 16 of the Ledafilms series corresponds to issues 1, 2 and 3 of The Masters). The series was then cancelled.
Around 2000 or 2001, AVH -also from Argentina- released the TV version of The Macross Saga on home video and each edition included an issue of the Comico adaptation; unfortunately, and although issue 36 -and final- was teased, it would stop at 35 issues.

By 2019, the AVH Macross Saga comics had already been scanned and issue 36 had already been fan-translated; while the first three issues of The Masters had already been scanned. I got in touch with the fan-translation group that had been working on it and offered my services to translate the missing material. Using a program called paint.net, a lot of fonts I got off the Internet, and some careful -and completely amateur- editing skills, I started translating the unreleased Masters Saga material in 2019, finishing in 2022. I had intended to translate the "Robotech Special: Dana's Story", but I had decided to save it for last, which another fan-translation group took advantage of to translate it before I could. I really wish I could have gotten to that one, but alas, what can you do?

Fortunately, their translator became too busy with college work, leaving me free to translate the entirety of the Invid/New Generation saga, which I finally concluded on the 1st of February of this year, just in time for the TV show's 40th anniversary.

I am immensely glad and grateful for the chance that presented itself to me, the chance to do my part to keep the flame of Robotech alive (a flame that its infamous IP holder, Harmony Gold, seems far more interested in stomping out). Robotech means the world to me.

Not at the moment, I'm afraid. If I went back to it, I'd like to have some rest first.

That's understandable . After all the hard work you've done on this, you've earned a rest!
