Scars

Today I parted my hair and remembered that I have a scar in my scalp where my head was cracked open when I was younger. I usually don’t part it that way but I parted it that way when wet as I noticed it gives my hair more volume. The scar isn’t gangly but like an inch long, just bald. Hair doesn’t grow there but it could be perceived as part of my hairline I think. I also have a scar on my right arm where I got a mole surgically removed. Otherwise I don’t think I scar much and don’t have many others. I think I have quite good skin. 

In terms of what I did to look after them, I didn’t do much aftercare on my arm scar but it healed alright considering. 

What about you? What are your scars and what are their stories?

I had to have my appendix taken out and I still have the scar there to this day. It's barely noticeable but still noticeable. I had that surgery when I was in elementary school.

Wrist Scar: Got it as a young kid. I touched fire.

Arm: A wire cut into me

Fingers: From bottle digging and other stuff

I don't think I have any more that are immediately noticeable

I have a few.

• A scar on my chin from falling down the stairs when I was like 4 or 5 years old.
  
• A pretty nasty scar on my right knee from a spill on my bike on the gravel roads near my ex-uncle's now former homestead when I was 9. I had to have gravel literally picked out of my knee. 
  
• A scar on my forehead from chicken pox when I was in Grade 6.
  
• A very faint scar on my right index finger for accidentally gouging it with a butcher knife when I was washing dishes (surprisingly, I didn't need stitches for that)
  
• A noticeable appendectomy scar, from the Miracle Semester (Fall/Winter 2011; it was a miracle I came out of that semester with three A- and a B! )
  
• A scar right underneath the centre of my rib cage from when I had my gallbladder out almost a decade ago.
  
• Related to the above, a scar about the size of a grain of coarse road salt on my right side right next to where my liver is. That was for a tube I had jammed into my liver when I had ascending cholangitis (which very nearly killed me) caused by the removal of my gallbladder, to drain the bile from my body while the doctors tried to figure out what was blocking my common bile duct. As small as the scar is, it is a reminder of other things that stemmed from that that I still deal with, such as the proneness to injury of my right oblique!

Appendix Scar from back when they did proper surgery, not this wussy woke 'keyhole' stuff they do now.

Also two scars that intersect (like a + sign) - one from when I was home alone when I was 13 and stabbed myself in the hand playing with a knife, and another from when I was trying to slice (frozen) Turkish Bread in 2021 and slipped with the knife haha.

A few more but they're the stories I want to tell.

That's the kind of surgery I had as well - that's why it's so noticeable!

I think I have a slight scar on my lip where I bite my skin when anxious. 

So many appendixes out here. I have a friend who had keyhole but there was a complication and they had to have an extra scar or two.
