New Walmart Logo?

"Walmart is refreshing its logo for the first time in nearly two decades, highlighting its evolution while also serving as a nod to its past, the big-box retailer announced Monday.

The word mark on the redesigned logo was inspired by founder Sam Walton’s classic trucker hat and features a typeface in bold and a darker blue, the company said. The logo also retains the iconic yellow spark, which received its own subtle refresh.

"This update, rooted in the legacy of our founder, Sam Walton, demonstrates our evolving capabilities and longstanding commitment to serve our customers of today and tomorrow," said William White, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, Walmart U.S. "While the look and feel of our brand is more contemporary, our refreshed brand identity reflects Walmart’s enduring commitment to both Sam’s principles and serving our customers however they need us."

The company said the brand refresh "will help Walmart build credibility and connection."

I laughed. Walmart paid someone to do this and it's amazing.

Wow... however much money they spent on that, they could probably have spent it better on about 9999 other things. Like, for example, taking better care of their employees.

(Unless, of course, they abused one of their employees into doing this for free :P !)

Yeah, a lot of companies are bad about this. It's all about the money, even if they act like their employees are their primary concern. Working for Walmart for about 10 years of my life, I ran into a few moments where the employees were mistreated by managers. One of my old managers asked me where everyone else was and she said something along the lines of "they better get their ass back here" like they were her slaves, this same lady that said this acted like I was a nobody when I quit Walmart even though she always complimented and praised my work ethics when I was on the job. There was also one time when they had a meeting for the truck team and told them work is not for making friends like it's not something that happens naturally. These two overnight managers treated me somewhat decently, but all I heard about them was endless gossip about always mistreating the employees. Typically, managers' best interest is doing whatever makes them look best for the big-wigs.  That's why it can be tough to work for big companies where everything trickles down from the higher-ups to your average Joe employee. I've seen it time and time again where the managers start going crazy when they know they're going to get a visit from the big-wigs. I'm sure they may be worried about being fired, but it's also somewhat natural to want to look good in front of those on a higher-tier list than you are.

To be on-topic concerning the logo, it looks like money wasted to me since it has the same visual appeal as the current logo.
