Restoring Old Vehicles
#1
I admittedly know little about cars and motorcycles but watching them be redone is amazing. For example this beautiful piece of British engineering

I absolutely love seeing these older pieces of art and engineering brought back to life over carelessly being trashed and people buying something else.

Yeah, it's lovely to see old vehicles being restored - not just cars and bikes, but also buses and trains :) .

One example that amazes me is No. 34046 Braunton:

From a rusting hulk to a working steam locomotive... that must have taken an immense amount of time, money, and dedication. But I'm glad there was a team of devoted volunteers who were able to provide all three :) !

Amazing restoration but I'd be scared to see the money and time involved!

Same here.

I looked it up, and I was able to find out that it was an 11-year project (from 1996 to 2007). I couldn't find out how much it cost, but it would almost certainly have been a six-figure sum - if not a seven-figure sum.

Part of the issue with this locomotive was that, due to its poor condition, it wasn't seen as a priority for restoration. So, many of its useful parts got taken for other restoration projects (and then, when this locomotive finally *was* restored, a lot of new parts had to be made from scratch!)

Still, I'm thankful that some people are willing to put up those crazy amounts of time and money - so that these magnificent machines can be enjoyed by future generations :) .

I watched this one today and loved it because Vespas are really cool but they were more a European thing than an American one. It'd be cool to own one though.
