UK to consider banning social media for under-16s

Yeah, I agree that the current system isn't good enough - but sadly, finding a workable solution is easier said than done. (Some kind of link to a parents' email sounds good in theory - but in practice, would children just specify their own second email address as their parents' email?)

Though, on another note relevant to this, LinkedIn won't be covered by Australia's social media ban - because it's not considered "appealing to children":

They may but some wouldn’t. And the parent could set it up and have the password to change it. Like how only the person who pays for the SIM can update whether it’s got adult settings on or not. I don’t think it’s a good solution and relies on technology changing which it won’t but yeah. 

I guess social media platforms would be more in control of what content gets posted. Sometimes adults who look a bit younger have their content taken down on TikTok if they’re showing a bit of skin in cases it comes under child nudity. The change would mostly have to come from parents and social media platforms themselves but I still don’t see it to be too feasible.
