"Similar threads" feature
To prevent duplicate threads being made
#1
Over at another forum I'm on, it has a handy little feature where, if you type out the title of the thread you want to post, a box will appear beneath it with the header "Is this already being discussed?", as to discourage people from making a thread with the same title and content.

This would be very useful here, especially when it has lots of threads here and it would save some people here searching for one before making a new one. Although, I don't know if MyBB would have such a plug-in to be easily added in...

Just a thought :)

Could work very well.

Problem is... we coffee heads tend to be very creative with our topic titling, so the feature would have a hard time tracking some threads -- some of my longest and more popular series include "So, I once..." and "Let me introduce you to:" threads.

But, that said, I would be in favor of this.

Yes, I like this idea.

Yeah, I like this idea :) .

There is a MyBB plugin that seems to do this; however, it was last modified 5 years ago, and has been abandoned by its creator. Still, might be worth at least trying to install it, to see if it works!

This could be countered with "fuzzy searching", which is what Google uses (even Maps).
