On Saturday, Turkish police arrested and detained a university student who is accused of developing an elaborate scheme to use AI and hidden devices to help him cheat on an exam, reports Reuters and The Daily Mail.

The unnamed student is reportedly jailed pending trial after the incident, which took place in the southwestern province of Isparta, where the student was caught behaving suspiciously during the TYT. The TYT is a nationally held university aptitude exam that determines a person's eligibility to attend a university in Turkey—and cheating on the high-stakes exam is a serious offense.

Well, this is obviously cheating, and I'm glad he got caught. But, I can see these becoming more and more sophisticated, and harder and harder to detect in the future...

I guess one piece of comfort is: as AI-powered cheat devices become more sophisticated, so will AI-powered cheat detection devices  !

Idk if I was the teacher I would have given them an A for effort before the arrest. They went way out of the way to make a cheating device they got caught for. Still back in the old days you would have to type out your test questions then xerox the rest. Maybe schools should go back to that.

I doubt it. Every generation has to cheat, or at least try. They just got caught and arrested before they could use it. Rofl
