Reconciliation

[Kyng]

Sabine didn't answer at all. She just dashed down the corridor and slammed the door shut on returning to her room. Then, she buried her head in her hands and bawled her eyes out for the rest of the night. 

"Hmph!" Aliana snorted, as she turned around and left the room. Once she had gone, Meriandra automatically grew back to her usual size, causing the glass to shatter underneath her and spill the water over the floor in a little puddle. 

"Don't tell Nestor," Lydia requested softly, as she placed her hand on her colleague's shoulder. "It's my fault...."

[Megan]

Kyle sighed. He asked about a room and shortly as shown to his own. He went in sitting on the bed. “I’d rather be with Aliana...”

Meriandra sighed. “It’s not...just Aliana’s.”

[Kyng]

Meriandra sighed, and reluctantly mopped up the puddle and swept up the shards of broken glass. 

A week later, it was time for Kyle to return home. He had spent most of the week alone and isolated in his room: Sabine had made three more attempts to woo him - but, unfortunately for her, her advances were rebuffed every time. She, too, spent most of the week locked in her own room, crying her eyes out. 

Meanwhile, over in New Atlantis, there was more positive news. Aliana had reached a compromise with her father: she would stop eating books, and would instead consume the previous day's newspaper (which would otherwise have been thrown out already). Thanks to her lighter snacks, she had shed her obese appearance from around a month ago - and now, she only looked mildly overweight.

[Megan]

Kyle was about to leave shortly, so he went to Sabine's room. He felt a little guilty about ignoring her...so he felt he should say good-bye. He knocked on her door with a sigh.

[Kyng]

Sabine was still lying in her bed, rubbing her sore red eyes in order to prevent her rears from streaming down her face. "GO AWAY!" she wailed tearfully, her shrill voice filled with hurt and discomfort. "I want to be left alone!"

Meanwhile, Lysander was paying the elves a visit, in order to advertise his latest scheme. He found Conor repairing some wooden panels which had come loose, while Cheryl sat on her armchair keeping a close eye on Chris, who was sat in the middle of the floor playing with Fidget. 

"Are you coming to TEMPLE WITH ARCHERY?" Lysander boomed at the top of his voice. "I think we have a good shot at succeeding!"

[Megan]

Cheryl rolled her eyes. "That's just stupid!" she said shaking her head. "About as stupid as watching this fakey here." she grumbled.

Chris cocked his head holding Fidget. "Dook?"


Kyle sighed. "I'm sorry, Sabine. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings...I just...I haven't been with a girl for a long time...not since Aliana...I understand if you don't want to marry anymore..." he said though he secretly hoped she didn't.

[Kyng]

"OF COURSE I DO!" Sabine shrieked painfully, as tears began flooding from her eyes. "But be honest: YOU don't want to marry ME! I can't handle it....get out of my SIGHT!" 

As Sabine choked on her tears, she realised that Kyle wasn't even in her sight, because he was still outside the locked door to her room. "I mean, GET OUT OF MY EARSIGHT !!!!!"

"Oh...." Lysander responded with a sigh, as he trundled off, feeling slightly crestfallen.

A few minutes later, Lysander's younger sister arrived at the treehouse in order to bother the elves. 

"You don't happen to have a copy of yesterday's newspaper, do you?" Aliana enquired. "I'm afraid Dad had an accident with his...."

[Megan]

"What, you ate it?" Cheryl said with a smirk.


Kyle sighed. He really didn't want to tell her, but he figured it was best. "...Its not that...I mean I don't have a problem with you...I think you're nice...I mean, you don't hit me for one..." Kyle paused. "But...I didn't have a say in any of this. My dad arranged all of it. He's determined to marry me off right now...I don't really want to marry anyone right now...I still love Aliana...Of course either way dad will make me marry someone else...quite honestly if I have to, I'd probably be okay with you."

[Kyng]

"EXACTLY!" Sabine stammered. "I don't want someone who SETTLES for me! Someone who's thinking about SOMEBODY ELSE the whole time they're with me! If you don't truly LOVE me, then GET OUT !"

Aliana winced: she didn't want to admit that she'd done exactly this, and yet she was still hungry. "Well, ummm, I'm just really bored, and I want something to eat - I mean, read...."

[Megan]

"So bored you decided to eat it?" Cheryl said with a laugh.

Kyle sighed. "I didn't have a say in it. I told my dad no. He did it anyway. But..." Kyle paused. "I...I did like spending time with you...er...what little time I did." Kyle looked away blushing. "Even...the...kiss..."
